Ferrari 430 Scuderia

Ferrari recently released details of its new lightweight 430 Scuderia. Based on the F430, the new car will join the F430 coupe and the F430 Spider in the prancing horse's road-going V8 line-up.

According to the famed sports car maker, the 430 Scuderia is a high-performance 2-seat 'berlinetta' specifically created to demonstrate how Ferrari's Formula 1 know-how can be carried across to its production cars. Development of the new model focused on light weight, minimum trimmings and innovative technology.

Powered by a naturally-aspirated 4.3 liter V8 (capable of producing 510hp at 8500rpm) the new car weighs just 1250kg - 100kg less than its F430 sibling - creating an extremely high power-to-weight ratio of 2.45kg per hp. Ferrari's latest F1 software and a new integrated traction control system claim to ensure the Scuderia will be a fomidable performer.

The 430 Scuderia will be officially unveiled by Michael Schumacher at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
