I really enjoyed the humor of The Tribune page designer who placed a half-page ad for Hummer vehicles under the Thomas Friedman column about the energy bill that the House recently passed ("Despite its flaws, energy bill demands Senate approval," Tribune , July 3). Vehicle fuel efficiency may not have been included in the House bill, but greenhouse gas problems and vehicle fuel efficiency are such important issues for the environment that it's foolish to consider them unrelated.
By the way, does anyone wonder why General Motors is having such a hard time competing against other auto companies that have led the way in fuel efficiency? Advertising "14 city/18 hwy" estimated fuel mileage won't encourage customers to buy its product.
